Eli teaches Arts Education at Outlook High School in Outlook, SK. “Always looking for new art mediums to introduce to my students, I decided to learn soapstone carving alongside my senior grades.
I took a personal interest in it, and began carving as a hobby that has since turned into a passion. Now I have something to look forward to keeping me busy during retirement. “
“I mostly love carving animals from stone, and prefer to work with chlorite, soapstone and white alabaster. I find the black and white contrast in the stone creates a sense of calm and balance in me. I also enjoy photography, particularly creating star trails above the Saskatchewan landscape.”
