Discover vibrant art & heartfelt greetings by Elbow Art Society—a collective joy in creation. Original, from painting to pottery.

The Elbow Art Society, where every stroke of the brush and moulding of clay is a testament to the shared passion and diversity in creativity. Comprising eleven exceptionally talented artists—including Marlo Kearley, Vivian Brown, Georgia Horsley, Joan Soggie, Norma Johnson, Dawn MacIntosh, Audrey King, Bonita Tucker, Lois Kurp, Deb Oram, and Denise Stewart — this group shines bright in Saskatchewan’s art scene. Their weekly gatherings for critique and encouragement have formed a foundation not just for beautiful art but for a community knitted tightly by the joy of creation.

As you wander through their summer gallery, each piece invites you into a vivid narrative. From the gripping tales spun in the pages of Joan Soggie’s authored books to the intricate beauty of Lois Kurp’s jewelry and the serene landscapes captured by Dawn MacIntosh, there’s an exploration at every turn. Whether it’s the vibrant hues of paintings, the delicate balance in pottery by Georgia Horsley, or the personal touch in each original greeting card, the Elbow Art Society offers more than art; they offer pieces of their hearts.

What makes the Elbow Art Society’s exhibition truly remarkable is not just the diversity of media—paintings that span the spectrum, original greeting cards that speak directly to the soul, pottery that melds form and function, and jewelry that tells of ancient crafts—but the unity in their love for art. This summer, let your spirit be uplifted and your senses indulged in a celebration of local talent and the unstoppable joy of creation at the core of the Elbow Art Society.

Elbow Art Society is an eclectic group of 10 artists who meet weekly to share ideas, laughter and encouragement. A few, like Viv, are accomplished artists with decades of experience and international exposure, while others produce art to delight family and friends. The group began as a water colour society, but has expanded far beyond traditional water colour or acrylic paintings. Each artist explores different media in the process of discovering her own artistic niche. Denise carves wood or uses felt napping to create whimsical creatures. Dawn weaves artisanal houseware and Georgia molds studio pottery, each piece combining beauty with function. Audrey incorporates found material into her unique artistic vision while Norma adds calligraphy to hers. Deb produces handcrafted greeting cards and Bonnie and Joan write books. Genres overlap as they continue to surprise themselves and each other. The Elbow Art Society Gallery and Gift Shop above the Village Office on Elbow’s main street welcomes visitors every weekend from the end of June until Labour Day.
