Shay Spiralstone turns things people usually throw away into beautiful treasures.

Turning everyday items into amazing art.

“Every medium has its secrets, its possibilities and its drawbacks. I enjoy the challenge of working within the constraints of whatever local materials I can find. I aim to create something of beauty and interest, using things often considered waste: scraps of wire and copper pipe, used paper (not T.P.!), carcasses, wood from abandoned farmhouses, and old computer disks, for some examples. I also paint with acrylics, favouring brightly hued canvases as a way to mitigate the whites/grays of our winter. “

Step into Shay Spiralstone’s world, where things people usually throw away become beautiful treasures. Shay is a special kind of artist who loves to find what’s hidden in plain sight. He takes things like old CD’s, pieces of wood, and even bones that no one wants and turns them into stunning art. It’s like magic, making new from the old!

Picture walking into a room where colors from Shay’s paintings light up the walls, making even the coldest winter day feel bright and cozy. Around you, there are sculptures made out of wood and bone standing quietly, shiny CD mosaics that catch your eye, and mirrors with special designs that seem to pull you into another world. Shay’s art is not just about making pretty things; it’s about showing us that anything can become something beautiful if we look at it the right way.

This art is for everyone – kids, parents, people who love art, and anyone who’s ever found a friend in an unexpected place. Shay’s work tells us stories of how old things can start new lives. When you come see it, you might just start seeing the beauty in places you never expected. Don’t miss this adventure with Shay Spiralstone at the River and Rail ArtVenture. It’ll make you see the world around you in a whole new way!
